Group Project- Set Design

We are currently working on a project titled 'Krapp's Last Tape' based on a play buy Samuel Beckett. My job for the project was production design (below). We are currently in the early stages of filming and hope to finish next week. The film is a stop-motion piece, featuring elements of 'Flash'.

Visualization For Personal Project

Here is another visualization for the film I am currently working on. I find these useful when trying to discover a visual look to the film.

Visualizations For Personal Project

These are some of the rough visual ideas for the personal project I am currently working on. These visual experiments will contribute towards rough story-boarding, set design, lighting, narrative and character design ideas.

Set Designs For Krapp.

When working on a group stop motion animation project which for now I will call 'Krapp' (Which by the way is the name of the main character not a description of the film) we all gave our selfs different sections. I was put on set design, which I have now completed. We will now argue together as a group about the storyboard and shot list before building the set and character, shooting the film and editing. Here is one of the pages of the set designs I have done, it's not the final version but Its pretty much the same.

Krapp is a man obsessed with his past self. As a result, he listens to tapes of his past and refuses to throw anythingaway. reminiscent. As a result he become consumed by his past and his surrounding room.

Alex-To Finish Or Not To Finish

As you may know from my other blog, we have been working on a film titled 'Alex'. It was originally suppose to be a mixture of film and animatic, as requested by the project, but at the request of our tutors, we are now filming the whole thing. The film is currently on hold due to us working on a new project, but we do hope to finish it and hopefully enter it into some festivals.

Where The Wild Things Are

This film looks lovely and visually very different from other films, I can't wait to see it when it comes out in October 2009.

The Devils Back Bone- Guillermo Del Toro

Being a fan of Guillermo Del Toro, particularly of his visual style I decided to watch 'The Devils Backbone' which is one of his earlier films. I didn't find it particularly scary but it was very good non the less.

Sand Animation

This was sent to us from one of our technicians, I think its amazing. A wonderful, original idea for a performance.

Simon's Cat-by Simon Tofield

This is fantastic! These animations always make me smile, I recommend visiting Simon's youtube.

Super 8 camera

I have recently bought a super 8 camera as I want to learn more about using film and widen my knowledge of the technique. I like using digital but now also want to explore other methods of film making. I have used a super 8 once before but don't feel I fully learnt how to use it. I like to quality that film produces and would like the opportunity to be able to use it in the future if I want too.
